Can we let you in on a secret? The honeymoon is the best part of wedding planning. Dreaming of idling away the days with your beloved in a beautiful place; creating a Pinterest board full of beaches, luxurious bungalows, and one-of-a-kind experiences; knowing that this is the time to splurge on the best holiday imaginable. Looking up honeymoon packages and destinations, narrowing down your selection to the crème de la crème, then handing over the details to someone else to sort out, trusting you’ll have a honeymoon to remember… Yes, honeymoon planning beats seating arrangements and telling your cousin Ginny for the fourth time that there will indeed be a protein-rich meal available for a vegan who’s gluten free, allergic to nuts and beans, and hates tofu.

We can’t help you with cousin Ginny’s crazy diet but around here, we know what’s what when it comes to Asia honeymoon packages: luxurious beds, stunning sunsets, tasty cocktails, white sand, clear water, and a bit of adventure mixed with gorgeous scenery, impeccable service, and plenty of privacy for you and your partner. Oh, and good value. We put our heads together and compared notes on our favorite spots. Then we bickered and campaigned for our picks and finally agreed that these are 11 of the best Asia honeymoon packages.

By the way, we keep writing ‘we’ instead of I. That’s because Luxury Travel in Asia is growing. We’ll update the site soon to introduce you to some new voices including Marbree’s. She’s the one who made us all fight for our favorites. Cheeky American, she wanted this to be a Top 10 list but in the end, we loved all of these too much to not share them with you.

Enough chatter! On to our favorite Asia honeymoon packages in order of, well, there is no order. We couldn’t possibly rank these or tell you we love one more than the other. Who do you think we are? The sort of parents who love one child more than the rest? Not us, we’re equal opportunity lovers around here!

1. The Sarojin in Khao Lak, Thailand

sarojin-khao-lak

All day breakfast with sparkling wine and a private dinner by a waterfall? Sounds like the perfect honeymoon to us!

The Sarojin is an exceptional boutique beach resort in every way and offers the perfect setting for a romantic honeymoon. The 56 luxurious Residences and Suites are set in 11 acres of tropical gardens which means that it offers endless personal space (and who likes to set the alarm in order to reserve the best spot at the beach on their once-in-a-lifetime holiday?).

There are not many hotels in Thailand with a private beach, and especially not with a private perfect white sandy beach beside the Andaman Sea like this. Also, if food plays a vital role in your honeymoon, this resort is for you. The resort is currently in the process of getting a Michelin Star. The Honeymoon Package includes three night’s accommodation including all day a-la-carte breakfast with sparkling wine, private return transfer from and to Phuket International Airport (HKT) with complimentary Wi-Fi, cold beers & soft drinks served, a bottle of sparkling wine and flowers in room on arrival, a 90-minute Royal Oriental (Aroma) spa massage each per person, a romantic candlelit jungle waterfall private dinner, a Spirit Lantern release on the beach as well as a romantic turndown on the last night.

2. Two weeks of pure luxury in the Philippines

el-nido

Not pictured in this image of the Philippines: whacky wildlife, luxurious resorts, welcoming people, and way more than we can list. We may have a crush on the whole country.

Want gorgeous beaches? How about a bit of wildlife and interesting scenery? Friendly people known worldwide for their hospitality? Art, culture, history? Warm clear oceans and over-water bungalows? The Philippines offers all of that and more.

This two-week holiday includes visits to three gorgeous resorts, each one home to a private beach, a sumptuous spa, and loads of things to do when you want to make the sort of memories you can tell your kids about without anyone blushing. Start on the island of Bohol in your own villa at Tarsier Botanika, one of our favorite resorts in the Philippines. Spend a day seeing tiny tarsiers with their big eyes and listening to a local artist serenade you while you enjoy lunch on a boat in the Loboc River (trust us, this one is memorable!). Laze on the beach, snorkel the clear waters, wander the gardens, or go for a horseback ride. Then hop over to the island of Negros and pamper yourselves silly at the unbelievable spa in your resort, Atmosphere. Start your day with yoga, end it with a candlelit dinner in a treehouse. To be in the Philippines and not see Palawan on your honeymoon would be downright silly. This trip takes you there and puts you in an over-water bungalow on a small island near El Nido. Walk through the jungle to a secret beach for a cocktail party for two, snorkel, kayak, dive, or just take it easy.

3. Cape Weligama, Sri Lanka

Just the thought of what’s in those pots is making our mouths water

Oh, Sri Lanka. Where do we begin? Tropical beaches, superb wildlife (anyone up for seeing elephants and leopards while honeymooning?), exceptional food, a fascinating culture, and lovely villas with luxurious touches. A stay at the cliffside Cape Weligama can include personalized meals, in-room spa treatments, diving, whale watching, surfing, bicycling, sailing, excursions to see the cobbled streets of historic Galle, a day of animal-spotting, and plenty of time to cuddle up in your sumptuous villa where your butler can mix you a cocktail and arrange for dinner just the way you like it. We recommend breaking out enough to savor the local cuisine cooked up fresh on-site and eaten with your bare hands.

4. Explore the Highlights of Myanmar with a Luxury Cruise

Who else has told you “I sailed around an isolated archipelago of islands in Myanmar for my honeymoon”? No one? Exactly!

Delia here… I think if I ever got married I’d want the honeymoon that has it all (on reflection, could this be the reason I’m diamond-less?!) But seriously, I’d want to go somewhere exotic and a little off the beaten track, but I’d want a slice of luxury and something extraordinary too. Yep, that’s me, the girl who wants it all! Myanmar (Burma) is definitely a destination that offers all of that and more – still relatively undiscovered so it’s still possible to have a hideaway picnic in the shadows of isolated pagodas in Bagan, eat in a local’s house on stilts over Inle Lake, walk the streets of Yangon to spot the heritage history at sunset – but to really get off the beaten track combine it with a luxury sailing cruise around the Myeik Archipelago in the south. Here you can explore more than 800 islands with spectacular marine life and untouched coral reefs, inhabited by the Moken people, also known as the Salone or sea gypsies. The best way to do it is on a luxury sailing boat – check out this tour of Myanmar for some inspiration.

7. Keemala Kamala in Phuket, Thailand

keemala-kamala

There’s more to Phuket than you may realize…

You might have just decided to skip reading this one as Phuket is just too touristy for you. We also were hesitant to explore this big developed island for the same reasons. However, it turned out that we found the most amazing hideaways and innovative boutique hotels here which made us re-think. The Keemala is one of those hotels that left us with an open jaw after inspecting it – this all pool villa wonderland set in the woodlands of Kamala is something we have not seen anywhere else before. Their slogan is “Beyond Enchanting” and it is oh so true. These 38 villas, all with private pool and breathtaking views, are tucked away in the jungle and the design has been inspired by the stories, cultures, traditions, and lifestyles of four groups of fictitious ancient Phuket settlers. Their characteristics are reflected in all elements of the villas and cottages, including the architecture, furnishings, decorative pieces, and textiles. The resort’s honeymoon package is perfect for those looking for a unique experience. It includes two night’s accommodation inclusive of daily special breakfast in bed with a bottle of champagne, nightly turn down service with floral scented bath to unwind for the evening, a couples’ spa treatment at their fabulous Mala Spa, a bottle of sparkling wine as well as a candlelight dinner for two.

8. A luxury tour of Vietnam for your honeymoon

pic1

Staying on the castaway island of Con Dao at the Six Senses resort will be the highlight of any honeymoon in Vietnam

He wants to explore but you want some luxury. He wants to go on a motorbike adventure but you want poolside cocktails near an isolated, pristine stretch of white beach. Finding the perfect balance between exploring and enjoying a little bit of luxury for your honeymoon can be a challenge… and some may say just the beginning of a life of married compromises!  Fortunately the stress can be taken out of your hands if you book with a tour operator that specialises in tailor-made itineraries so you can dictate just how much exploring you want to do and just how luxurious the hotels can be. We love this luxury tour of Vietnam that includes everything from exploring the streets of Hanoi like a local, taking an overnight cruise in Halong Bay and seeing the highlights of Hoi An and Saigon before finishing on one of the most luxurious resorts in the country on a castaway island. But the best bit is you can change it however you want – so to get that motorbike fix why not incorporate an evening street food motorbike tour of Saigon… after all, those island cocktails are going to tick all your boxes!

9. Three islands in Indonesia, one love to last a lifetime

Bali’s not a bad place to end your honeymoon is it?

Bali has captured the heart of many around here and we recommend it to anyone who lets us. But for those who want to see its beauty and go somewhere that people aren’t already raving about, this two-week holiday is a perfect Asia honeymoon package. Unwind at the start of your honeymoon in a private pool villa by the white sands of Bali then head to Lombok. Explore this less-visited island on bicycles and take in the temples and traditional villages. From Lombok you’ll cross the water to romantic Gili Meno for a few days of bliss on the beach. Spend a day on a private snorkeling trip that takes you to Gil Air and Gili Trawangan so you can say you’ve seen the Gilis. Head back to Bali for a bit of culture and some serious luxury in Ubud. This package includes all sorts of romantic touches like dinners by candlelight, massages, and a silversmithing class where you’ll each make a piece of jewelry to take home.

10. Hideaway at a luxury mountain retreat in northern Laos

Such views from your hot tub can be enjoyed with a glass of Champers in hand

Get completely off the beaten track and stay at a serene mountain escape in northern Laos, perched on an isolated river stretch where you can make the most of the hot tubs scattered in the gardens. After travelling Laos extensively, we cannot think of a more perfect place to spend a few nights of your honeymoon than Muang La Lodge, which is one of the country’s loveliest retreats. They offer all sorts of fabulous packages and since it’s your honeymoon be sure to request their romantic candelit-dinner in a private sala in the resort grounds. We love their three-night package that perfectly combines luxury with getting off the beaten track; it includes two fascinating excursions, where you can meet the local Kamu people as they work in the rice fields, trek to stunning vistas and even witness one of the most important ceremonies to the people of Laos, a Baci ceremony. Accommodation and dinner is also included. For more details take a peek here.

11. Because honeymoons should be all about a private island in Cambodia…

09-tbv-deck-overview_0

Waking up on Song Saa private island in Cambodia is worth every penny…

‘Private island’ and ‘honeymoon’ go together like ‘gin and tonic’… For the ultimate luxurious getaway be sure to check out Song Saa private island just off the south coast of Cambodia. We know we’ve mentioned it before, and we’ll be honest, we’ll mention it again – this place is extraordinary! We love the all inclusive package, so from the moment you walk in (to heaven) your wallet is redundant, all your food (and it is out of this world) and house beverages (which is an impressive list) is included. Your private villa (on stilts over the water) or in the luscious jungle and of course you have a private pool. The island has sparkling clear water and soft, white sand and it has the best Champagne Mojito cocktails ever (helped by the fact they are also included). We can help you secure a ‘Pay 3 Stay 4’ deal in 2017, which means your fourth night is completely free. For more details take a peek at this page here.
